Default Unbiased opinion needed

Hi All,

As a former S2000 owner (x2) and former member on here I thought that I would ask for an unbiased view.

I am looking at a six month old M3 (coupe) vs a Merc C63 saloon of the same age. An M3 with the right spec is c.

Can I ask why you have gone for these two?

Space, company car for example?

Fair point.

Space is not really an issue, but I would like a car that is no more than 6 months old - I can then run it for two years and then sell with some warranty remaining. This is why I have ruled out all the more interesting options such as AMV8, 997 etc.

The main point is that I want something fun and comfortable that will put a smile on my face.

By the way, not a company car - straight personal purchase.

OK-but I am struggling why you car about something that will be passed on to a buyer?

Are you really saying you want a car within warranty for the whole of the time you own it?

Yes, I guess so. Just don't want to have to deal with the issue at 3 years, and am making the (perhaps mistaken) assumption that it would be easier to sell a 2.5 year old car with some warranty than a car with no warranty at 3 years, or one where I have to add one.

Cheers.

Those type of cars are haemoraging cash right now.
The depreciation will kill you.

But if you can accept that..

Buy the M3.
It is the driver's car.

If you can find an M3 V8 at a really low price (and its a car I really would be taking the piss on with the price as people are really needing to sell) then go for that.

I'd possibly look at the M5 at those prices too though - V10!

I think you need to drive them both. From what I understand they have completely different characters.

Merc dealers have reputations for being awful. But I've had completely mixed experiences with BMW dealers.

There's plenty more depreciation to come of both of these cars. As long as you're fine with that, you'll be happy with either.

on my E46 M3 the servicing is expensive, 180 for oil service, (12-15k miles), inspection 1 800, inspection 2 up to 1200
