"Vantage Homecoming"
Well the "homecoming" was an excellent day though a thinly veiled sales "effort".
The presentation from Aston Martin Design Director Marek Reichman's was fantastic. He talked through how each line and curve on the Vantage had come to be and managed to describe in English (rather than design speak) why the Vantage looks so good. It actually made sense!
Good to see he and the prototype engineer are racing them and getting podiums in GT4.
Had a mooch around their race car and James May N24 from Top Gear
Climbed all over the £1M 1-77, some great details, like four exhaust appearing through the CF rear diffuser. Some Arab has ordered 11 saw the first one going through build.
Kicked the tyres of a Rapide, DBS and Vantage GT4
Had a really close look at a cutaway 4.7
Amazing detail to the central intake, the two banks of dual overhead cams, the carbon fibre propshaft and the dry sump system.
Spent 90 mins walking round the factory, the emphasis on consistence and quality was amazing to see. The Gaydon cars are a quantum leap in build quality and engineering from the earlier cars. Each one is dynoed & test driver for 30 miles on the test circuit.
Best bit was test driving the V12 and the N420.
V12 is a fantastic piece of kit sounds awesome, pulls like a train, rides well and handles well, the carbon brakes are amazing!
The N420 is basically a fully speced version of mine. The sports exhaust sounds I really wanted to like the CF sports seats but could not get comfortable.
Eagerly waiting for a V12 roadster.
Couple of other interesting pics!
This has been "in position" since the launch
This sign made me laugh "not hunting or fish!"

However if the rear diffuser was so impressive Mikey - then you could have one on a very cheap Clio However mine isn't carbon fibre and only has 2 exhausts but other than that they are exactly the same
