About 5 years ago when I lived in Oxford I'd see a G-reg Lotus Esprit every day. The thing was a piece of rust and I couldn't believe it was still going.
Last week I happened to go that way in the morning and saw it again. I couldn't believe that.

He was obviously short of cash and I thought I'd do him a favour - filters and fluids and a new set of plugs. I was mad about cars even then, a friend and I were restoring a Wolsely Hornet we'd found in a barn, so i was happy to offer my new found mechanical knowledge to the old boy for free.
Only I forgot, as I reversed it over the inspection pit in my dad's barn that it had 3 wheels. Until the front end dropped violently and there was the sound of fibreglass hitting concrete.

Yeah Lloyd, the Maestro Turbo was silly quick for its day. I had the Metro Turbo as my first car. Lasted 6 years before I flogged it to a mate. Great fun - shopping trolley on wheels with a massive 96bhp (plus Janspeed stainless exhaust and K&N air filter to take it to an earth shattering 102 )
I was a bit of a chav
I'm almost tempted to source another one for a laugh actually...
