Vigilante targets mobile-abusing drivers
Hampshire police are investigating a spate of "vigilante" attacks on cars whose drivers were apparently seen chatting away on their mobiles while on the move, The Telegraph reports.
The "mobile slasher" is believed to make a note of an offender's registration, and then "somehow" tracks the vehicle to the owner's address before slashing the tyres and leaving a "blackmail" style note assembled from letters cut from newspapers on the windscreen. It reads: "Warning. You have been seen driving while using your mobile phone."
Following around 20 attacks in Gosport, Lee-on-the-Solent and Stubbington, police are carying out forensic tests on the notes in the hope of getting a solid lead. They believe the perpetrator may been "the victim of an accident caused by a driver using a mobile telephone", The Telegraph notes

Good! I wonder if the guy would mind targeting the chavs that don't wear their seat belts as well? I know its Darwinian Theory and survival of the fittest at work but if you visit Feltham (not to be advised if you can help it!) and watch passing cars you'll find that around 2 in 3 drivers don't have a seat belt on!?!?!?!?
But who cares if a chav has his seatbelt on or not? It doesn't bother me, as it's not a distraction from driving.
Actually, the net result could be less chavs, when they bounce their thick skulls off their own steering wheels in an accident

So let me get this right, the "moral" majority on here, based on past discussions, happily beat the crap out of someone for carelessly dinging a door, but think its quite acceptable to go around causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage to other peoples cars for using a mobile phone?
Cue "but its illegal to use a phone" bleating - well, it's illegal to speed too, so how would you like it if some local resident clocked you speeding and got all vigilante on you?
Just a thought like.
