Default Virgin make a killing on Brawn

Intersting article in the paper tonight.

Branson secured the deal with Ross at £155,000 a race for the Virgin branding on the car. £2,325,000 so far for the season. However with the success of Jenson and Rubens Virgin has enjoyed 8.5 hours of TV coverage worth an incredible £51,500,500

Quite an impressive return.

What's scary is to think the normal cost of similar sponsorship is £750,000 a race!!

Nobody ever accused Branson of lacking business nous.

Being an irritating beardy gnome, yes. But not lacking business nous.

I am surprised no one else jumped on that band wagon earlier in the season

I struggle to respect Branson. I went on a course once and there was a bloke from Virgin Atlantic there. During the day, all he could do was evangelise about Branson, but by the time we'd all spent a few hours in the hotel bar, then it was a different matter.

His stories left me with the impression that he's just a self-aggrandizing dabbler, albeit one who seems to surround himself with some able advisors.
