Default Visiting the UK

Hi all,

I am from the US (Mid-south region) and I am currently visiting some friends in the UK. I saw that Donington is about 2.5 hrs away from where I am staying in London and they have a general test session this Thursday (11/26).

I wanted to know if anyone here has visited the Grand Prix collection and/or attended a general test session as a spectator. I was planning to visit Edinburgh Tomorrow - Thursday but I could leave there a day early and get to Donington to watch the general test session.

I just wanted to see if anyone here has first hand experience of what to expect from these test session? Lots of nice cars? (sports cars, F1 cars??) How much time would be reasonable to spend in the Grand Prix Collection?

I am a huge car/track day enthusiastic and have a 2004 S2000 that I have had from about 5 years now and a 1991 Nissan S13 that I use as my track car so I love to be around cars/motorsports.

Thanks in advance!!

The Grand Prix collection is a good visit, there's lots to see there from the 6 wheeler to a Schumacher Ferrari. I've never seen any on track action there though (I've not tried to either).

This is just one of the halls:

Thanks for the response! Yea it definitely seems like a nice place to visit for a car/racing enthusiast and as far as I know we don't have anything like that in the states. I think I am going to try to add that to my list if everything else works out!

The test day is likely to be for small private teams, perhaps a few historics or club racers.

Not much to see imo - but the donington collection is well worth a visit.

The test day this week is a general test day, but it's unsilenced so you will probably see some nice machinery.

Weather looks good and you should be able to get into the paddock.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I booked my flight earlier today, will be flying in to East midlands airport which is close to the track around 8:30 on Thursday morning so I should be able to spend the entire day there!

I emailed the organizers for the test day and they said there were 20 cars registered as of this morning so should be a nice.

Will post some pictures when I get back,

Cheers!

Welcome to the UK!

I can also recommend a visit to the Collection. And I recommend that if you're spectating, wear something warm. With an outer layer of something else that's warm.

Enjoy!
