Default W12 Phaeton

I spent Thursday & Friday in Manchester last week wafting around in a five year old W12 Phaeton.

They are the epitome of well specced cars, it wanted for absolutely nothing whatsoever. Massage seats, individual driver and passenger air con, electric everything, what seemed to be a super computer in the dash, you name it and it had it. Sadly it also had about eight trees worth of polished wood veneer in it too.

The performance was simply amazing, you shot up to very silly speeds very quickly and without noticing, because the car is so well insulated you simply do not hear the engine or the exhaust at all. The brakes however were terrible and very spongy indeed.

The list price for the car and all the options was just over

I do actually. A Bentley for VW prices. With associated running costs.

But lovely cars nontheless, even with all the wood. And very discrete, so no good for you Wideboy.......

When you sat in it, it felt Bentley if you know what I mean.

However, out of warranty with that engine - I dread to think how much major problems would cost you.

I agree with you.

When I had a Toe-rag for a weekend, they also put me in a Phateon. The sales was handled in a separate part of the franchise, with fancy seats and coffee - to make the little people feel not so little I imagine.

I thought the Phateon was great too.

16k for one of those. Wow. That is truly brilliant.
