is the S overpriced?
is the S overpriced? i am not saying the car is not worth the price.
What i am saying is the S is a great car because of the design. Not because of the parts.
It seems the S has no options compared to cars of these days.
the S is 34k. The crv is 22k? the crv is so much bigger and comes with so many things. more doors. bigger wheels, tires extra seats, cargo and what not.
compared to other cars at this price Lexus comes with heated/cooled seats, auto windowiper, fogs, 6 cd changer full size spare, memory seats, etc etc. so much more gadgets.
Evos come with turbo, brembo, momo steering. and the list goes on.
Sure the S is convertible and rwd. But it seems like it comes with so much less luxury.

I think a lot of what drives a car's final price is sales volume. R&D is high on both an S2000 and a CR-V, but since Honda sells so many more CR-Vs it can offer a lower price. Of course, people here have stated that Honda recouped its R&D costs in the initial year of S2000 production...
First, no one (smart) pays MSRP for an S2000 anymore.
Second, I've come up with an analogy. Do you prefer fat chicks or thin hot chicks? You get more with a fat chick - bigger boobs, more cushion for the pushin, etc. But do you want those things or is less actually more?

A better analogy would be do you want to pay more for an escort that you get for the whole night or less for a 15 minute quickie with a street walker? They're both "pros" but one is getting more volume, so to speak.
As was mentioned before, the car's MSRP is $34k, but that's not what people pay. $28k is more like it. At that price point, I argue no other roadster comes close. The Solstice GXP is as close to a competitor for the $$$ as you can find. I'd take the S2k in a heartbeat.

s2000's are imported, whereas a cr-v or a civic or an accord are built here in the states.
I'm sure the fact that there's no shared platform might play a role, as well.
