They sound utterly filthy in a fantastic way. Guy in the vid is clearly a dick, but the exhaust note is lovely.

I have been tempted in the past......on cold start they sound absolutely fantastic.

IIRC a couple of people on here have one.

Chris.

I'd like one of those engines in an M3...

They are strange cars. The interior is very old man imho and the 4 door looks horrendous in some colours, bling bling too, its not a pretty car or even a bland one. It can pass muster in some colours though. Isnt it basically the same engine as the sls though? Lovely noise, quite cheap too - certainly there are early cars the right side of £30k.

I sat in one and that was all that it took to decide its not for me. The M3 feels nicer.

The missus really didnt like it, she is like me, nothing but the M3 appeals in that type of car.

Aside from an SLR, I don't consider any current Merc' as being anything other than ugly and completely tasteless.

Mercedes have sold their corporate soul to the demon that is the nouveau riche and gauche.

Just my opinion of course...

My friend bought one when I bought my GTR he was gutted when I could effortless waste him on the straights and they just don't corner properly. They do sound great IRL to compensate for the lamness but the one in this video is decatted or something is missing in the exhaust they aren't normally soo raucous.

No it isn't just your opinion.

Oddly, one of those AMG Isabellas accelerated up the lane the other day. Just made the guy seem like an utter twat.

It's either the right engine in the wrong car, or the wrong car...or both.

It's the Teutonic equivalent of Gordy the Moron trying to smile.

I saw a few on the Merc test track at Brooklands when I was there for Autoitalia last year.
Sounded awesome.

I definitely want to scratch the AMG / Audi RS6 itch at some point in the near future.
