Default Warrantees on BMWs.....

Hi all

I know there are some M5/M3/Z4 owners on here so hopefully someone will know.

If I buy a second hand M3 and it has no remaining manufacturers warranty can I still get one?? I know with Porsche, you can take it in, they check it over etc and then offer one up - can BMW do this?

cheers

Andy

I looked at M3s before deciding on the 911 and, IIRC, once the BMW warranty has lapsed, that's it, you can't re-apply it. Unless you're buying from a BMW dealer, of course.

Cost ultimately put me off too.

PS It's warrantY

I also investigated M3's before settling on Y1. Looked at a few and read about a little.

If you find a car with an existing BMW warranty, make sure the early inspection service (750 miles I thinks) was done pretty much spot on mileage. I looked at one car, ex dealer demo model, which had the inspection service carried out at ~1200 miles (by the dealer who ran it as a demo!) after some too-ing and fro-ing, it was confirmed all engine related claims would not be considerred

[secretwhisper]Thanks Mark, I thought I would have to wade in on that frequent error [/secretwhisper]

Is it just me or does Andy seem to chop in his company car every 12 months Lucky man!

shut it you lot

Ok yeh I know, I actually really like the car and if I used it more it would be better, but I use a car so little, whenever I do I want it to be a thrill. The S3 isnt thrilling, its capable, well specced, comfy, fast, good looking(I reckon), quite classy etc etc - I just want something that I would go out in, just to have a drive for the sake of it

Maybe another ITR is the way forward!
