What did you replace your S2000 with?
S1 Elise, then S2 Exige.
They have loads of character. Only sold the Exige as I wanted the money for the race car, but it's the only car I've ever regretted selling.
But it depends on what you want, they're less practical than the S2000, they're noisier and they don't have the pose value of a Porsche or a BMW with the general populace but every drive is an event and the S2 cars are every bit as reliable, and in the main a lot cheaper to run than anything from Germany.

I swapped my second S2000 for a Z4M coupe.
I didn't like the roadster, but the coupe is a different car.
Engine is amazing, handling is flawed in the same way the S2000's was considered to be. Ie full of character and good fun.
It was a good upgrade from the S and works as a daily driver for me.
You'll get a very good one for less than £20k now. Running costs (excluding M taxed replacement parts) are not dissimilar from the S.

Yep, need to test drive an S2 elise/exige really and see what I like
I don't care about practicality at all
A bit of refinement like that S2k/Cayman/Z4 have is nice but then the whole point of a lotus is basic lightweight for handling++ which I'll have to see if I can live with long term

Good call on the Boxster S... it would be my next choice if I was in the enviable position of spunking £15k - £20k on a drop-top.
1st time round when I sold my first S2000, I bought a T reg 1.8T Golf (to save money)... missus was 8 and a half months preggers, I left it rather late selling the Honda on because I loved it so much. I was just after something comfy, reasonable on fuel and a decent enough as a baby carriage so hence the Golf was a rushed purchase
. I sold my W-reg S2000 for.... £13,000 and it had 80,000 miles on it
I'm rather good at selling stuff, its what I do for a living
I missed the S so much, it was ultra bullet proof and the Golf in comparison was littered with faults (plus the clutch went after 4 months!)
2nd time S ownership was fine, with the exception of my TCT rattle (which I easily fixed) but I knew it wasn't going to be a long ownership. It was a fab car, OAP owned for the last 4 years hidden in a lovely part of St Martin, Wales. I lost £300 on it in 8 months of owning, if I'm honest it was never as good as the W-reg. I replaced it with another mk4 Golf (unfortunately) but the better GT Tdi 130, 'mapped to 180/310lbft. Its just a motorway overtaking hog
If anyone knows where S200 TOE is, hope its being taken care of. It was driven off to St Helens, 2 hours after being test driven by Chris and his wife. (she had not long crashed her black Civic after getting her stiletto caught on the accelerator
)
The VW is alright, its saving me a fortune in fuel and I could not be bothered with 20's mpg etc, I was driving with less enthusiasm and more economically. So the S2k a chapter I have to return to one day, I had decided that... and go for an older one in the future, T/V/W reg)
I think the car is better as a weekender, I've always used my S2000's as commuters but the damn fuel costs and everything else going up, including insurance, damages the ownership experience.... the car isn't THAT good to make you bankrupt lol.
One day i'll be back... in a yellow one. I will be lurking for cheap end £3k'ers when they drop that far....

I bought something thoroughly engineered and exceptionally well built.
Another Honda.
A pre-facelift 3.2 manual NSX coupe which appears to be worth a fair bit more now than when I bought it 5 years ago.

Me three.
About the only issue is sometimes the screws fall out its VVIS flaps and lunch the motor, an option you can also get with BMW.
I also got a prelude, a GT86 and had the sense to keep the S2000 in case of remorse.

As per Mark B, the only car I miss (and i've had a few) is the Exige.
Has Character in spades and just getting in it always felt special.
I can't see me owning anything more fun. Currently working out how to get another one

I really like the idea of the GT86 but its just that little bit too slow. The S2000 wanted for more at times and this is over 40bhp less
0-60 in 7 seconds is diesel hatch back speeds. I know its about the handling but you want something to back up the aggressive looks imo
A shame really, and hopefully Toyota make a "hot" version at some point.
