What to do on a Thursday...
I forgot my camera, and by the time I realised it was too late to come home and get it.
When I got there it was raining and there was a lot of standing water on the track, so conditions were not ideal to jump straight into on of the cars there. I took the opportunity to therefore go out in my car and familiarise myself with the track layout, as it is over a year since I've been to that track and back then it was just as a passenger. The GT track at Bedford is very long, that makes it difficult enough to remember what corners come next, regardless of the weather!
I had a very scary moment in my car. The first session I had the traction control off, I came out of a long sweeping right hander at about 90mph went through some standing water, felt the back end break and over corrected. Next thing I knew I was spinning off the track, over the grass and towards the tyre barrier a 100m or so off the track. I thought for a moment I had enough momentum to hit the tyres but luckily the grass did its job and stopped me.
As the track dried out I had got the basics of the layout in my head, so was driving more fluently and enjoying myself a bit more.
There were some very impressive cars there, the highlight being a brand new Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, weighing in at almost
