Default What do we think about mud flaps?

I just saw a red Fiesta ST with shiny, body coloured mud flaps.

I thought they made it look good and different.

Are they functional or just a fad?

Muddy flaps ........ on SOME cars ok ... on anything else, not so ok.

In a cool 'rallyesque' thing i think it's fine but they don't suit everything, S2000 included.

P1 put mudflaps on his S to protect the paint. Function over form. I thought they looked silly

On rally cars they look Flappage.

Mats and flaps! Always my end of negotiation when buying a car lol! Along with a full tank of petrol.

I think they are a good idea, cuts down on spray and stops the wheel arches and paintwork getting filthy. I wish the S had them on the front!

I thought the flaps on front of the S, in front of the wheels were for aero?

Mud-flaps; they're synonymous with Reginald Molehusband.

I would suggest they would form part of 'his' essential vehicle upgrades which would also include car seat covers, a cushion on the rear parcel shelf and IoAM sticker.

I took the mudflaps off my Merc, my Suzuki and my Alfa before those. Some, probably only a few, cars can get away with them but on most they look daft.

That said, the area just in front of my rear wheel arches on the Suzuki gets pretty mucky and I suspect that wouldn't be the case had I left the mudflaps alone.

Mudflaps are the automotive equivalent of these ...
