Default What is a drop hanger?

Citroen say the C3 needs a new one. Im not getting involved / phoning Citroen & am forcing my g/friend to take responsibility for her own car re service and MOT this year - normally she does nothing and just expects it to work every morning

Anyway, what's one of them then?

The only thing I could find on the internet was this:

The 1" drop hanger balances the tradeoffs between the use of flatter (and thus better flexing) springs and limiting approach angle and ground clearance. The drop hanger also adds precious clearance between the draglink and pitman arm during compression.

Don't know if that's any use?
