When is an //M not an //M?
Badging a car up as an //M when it isn't actually an //M always rubs my rhubarb
He's even put an //M badge on the engine block

It's like the BMW I own, a 2001 530d Sport. Loads of owners call it the M Sport when in fact, the actual E39 model never had an M Sport. This was the later Chris Bangle influenced model 2004- on. The mistake being, that my car as standard is covered in M badges (steering wheel, the 18" upgraded M-Parrallel wheels have them on, door sills).
When anyone asks what model my car is, it's a Sport. You could upgrade your standard SE from the factory with a Sport pack back then. So many just call Sports an "M" Sport either to make it sound better, or just because they don't know their BMW model history lol.. I'll admit, I've called mine an M sport to others to make it sound better. My boot is debadged, with an Alpina style stainless back box to add. So you cannot tell its a Dirty D ;-)
