Default Window problem

My CRV window on the drivers side goes up to a cm of the top and then goes down again.
Anyone know if there is a way to override the sensor so we can lock it up until I can get it to the dealer to sort it out ?

Thanks

Try total closure of you have it on your keyfob. The only way to see why it's malfunctioning is to perhaps remove the door card. A little late to do it now though at 11pm. Bin Bag up the window, if it's on your drive remove battery and manually lock with key. Or leave unlocked until tomorrow. No one will nick it for a bank job

Open it, hold the switch down for a few seconds and then close it - holding the switch up

Found some proper instructions for you here.

Some 2000, 2001, and 2002, S2000 have experienced a problem with the auto window down feature when lowering and raising the convertible top. This is not to be confused with the driver side auto relay switch problem. This problem is thought to be caused do to people using towels and tubes to prevent the plastic window from creasing. The improper use of these items prevents the roof from fully retracting and causes the window sensors not to function properly. The fix is rather simple, you have to reset the windows by following the following 5 steps:

1. Start the car and leave it idle.
2. Hold the window button down all the way, until the window is completely down.
3. Let go and push it down again and hold the window button for 2 to 3 seconds then let go. (You should be able to hear or feel (very faintly) the motor/sensor reset.)
4. Pull up on the window button and roll the window up until it is all the way up, when it is up let go.
5. Pull the button up again for 2 to 3 seconds. (You should be able to hear or feel (very faintly) the motor/sensor reset.)

I think it's the same thing - i'm sure VW have a similar reset procedure.

A rough assist is a roll of gaffer tape across the gap to get you through your trip. If the suggestions fail, don't despair, get a roll.

Reset had worked ! But it reverts back after a while so I definitely think there is a faulty component. At least it is now closed.
Thanks for the help.
What a great forum this is :-)

A bit of silicon spray on the window rubbers should fix it, or at least clean them out, especially towards the top of the rubber on the A-pillar.

It thinks something is getting trapped so opens the window again. Both my CRX and S2000 have done this, so I expect it's no different on the CRV.

Another way to close it is to use the "half-way" switch setting instead of the "all the way up" setting and close the window semi-manually.

Yep - something dry in the mechanism or the window channels. Motor / sensors detect a block and then knock the windows back down again. If the reset doesn't fix it permanently then you need to do some maintenance, or Honda does
