You'd have been impressed with some of the work we did by hand. It was impressive, just took forever to do.
I was a bench fitter in my younger days,vividly remember having to make a steel cube by hand during my apprenticeship. Sounds easy, try it sometime!

Tap and die, hand file, engineers blue, ICY triangle etc etc. Really annoying when you are 5 feet from a milling machine.
