Default WTF?!

Just checking over the specifications of the Fiat Panda and came across the 'Standard Options'.

What the hell is the 'Standard Option' at the bottom of the list all about?

What is a 'standard option' - is it fitted as standard or is it an optional extra?

Standard fitting I would have thought, maybe just a strange translation from Italian?

I'd have thought an older Panda to learn to drive.

Then once that's been destroyed and mistakes learned from it, a new car might be sensible.

100% correct.

But try rationalising that with 'someone' who feels the little cherubs must have airbags and ABS.

Having a shit first car is part of the right of passage. WTF do I know though - I'm only the one springing for the wheels...

there is no rationalising it

it is determined by who is paying

or how about the recipient saves up half the cost (of everything above a basic old car) and you contribute the other 50%?

my partner's son had his first car recently - a Cinquecento thingy was provided

sure enough, it was dented and scraped to feck and back within six months

but he had no serious accidents and has now 'worked' his way up to a Focus

good job I'm not a parent

I simply would not buy my kids a car

it's something you should buy for yourself

MD's kids have been given new cars from them passing their tests and each and every one of them has had an accident - the lads more than 5 each with one resulting in a ban for a year.

Think they should be made to put something towards to it and it should be a bit of a banger that you can learn your mistakes in.
