Until you take it down there and apparantly they are on commision to knock at least 30% off the price you are quoted.

For a bit of fun, I've just clicked-on a banner advertisement for this site.

Price given for my S was only a couple of hundred less than the trade-in price suggested by What Car?

Might be a useful tool for obtaining a reasonably accurate market valuation.
Really?
As you might know I sold mine privately a month ago.

The "we buy any shite" valuation was just shy of 10k, as a GT and FHSH.
And boy are you in for a lot of spam now...

I did the same as you again with the R26, that came back at 11k which was what I could get as a PX.
But then I do haggle very hard, and very well.

You will get more on the private market, that is NOT a valuation, just business

Just had a look at their website.

They valued my car at £2,800

Steer well clear.
Not bad for an Alfa.

£12,560.00 for my S. Wouldn't sell to that bunch in a month of Sundays but more than I thought they'd offer!

If I ever sold i'd do it privately like i've always done!

The trouble is Dawn, and I speak from recent experience, is all the timewasting twats you have to spend your hard earned days off with.

Its a nightmare.

My car sold to a gent who actually had some cash in the end.
Amazing how many turn up and have no funds

I was about to give it to a dealer just because my time is worth more than the £1.5k more I would make private sale.

And then theres the security issue.
I'm well secure and belled up to the eyeballs, but if I were in a major city it would really worry me having all these visitors.

Agreed, I am just about to hand my M3 back to the dealer £1.5k less then I could get privately just to save on hassle, time wasters etc... this is about £3.5k less then they can sell it on for !

I read a story about this company in a newspaper article recently, they sound like proper con artists.... as has already been mentioned, stories of knocking the price right down (from an already low base price) for the most minor exterior or interior marks... Steer clear!

I'm quite surprised at how many people find selling cars privately a hassle

I sold 2 last year, both reasonably high money for what they were (clio 172 and integra type R) but both good examples.

In both instances first person to come and see the cars where nice people, took for a short test drive, had a good look around, a long chat about cars in general and came back with a fair offer.

I wonder if advertising the cars for top money and on sites like pistonheads / owners club forums rather than autotrader avoids the chav test pilots.

I didn't have too much problem shifting my 993 via private sale - but I suppose a 10 year and two-shapes-old 911 is probably niche enough not to attract the chav element.....

I'm umming and erring over swapping cars again but think I'll have to buy from a dealer and p/x mine this time, simply because we no longer have a second car which I could use in the meantime between selling mine and buying a new one. And I can't exactly commit to buying a new car without knowing I have a buyer for the current one....

I suppose there's a place for dealers like WBAC, if you want to avoid the hassle of selling privately and don't mind getting (at best) an average price for your car.
