Default Y1 Tangoed!

Lee kindly travelled south to give Y1 a bit of a polish.

Some of you will know that when I bought Y1 the paint was less than perfect, so the car went to Clean Image in Chelmsford for paint correction.

They did a very impressive job, but there were one or 2 panels (mainly the doors) I was not 100% happy with. This, along with me deciding a good professional polish once a year is a sensible inclusion in the routine maintainance of a nice car, led me to contact Lee (Tangoman).

So here is a (largely pictorial) record of what Lee got up too.

Stage one was to give the car a soapy wash down

All over....

Followed by a good going over with a claybar - even though the car has been thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis this still picked up an impressive amount of crud from the paint surface.

It also removed all my previously applied wax!

Next Lee carefully measured the thickness of the paint on various points of each panel (and confirmed that the NSX is unusually well endowed in the paint thickness department!)

Y1 ready for a part in the Tron re-make!
(OK, shutlines and vents sealed with tape to prevent ingress of dust from the polishing compounds)

Lee goes to work (for the next 4 hours )

Next, the application of a paint cleanser/feeder:

Looking...errrr.....good..........I think.......

The laying on of hands

Zymol Japon wax applied properly, by hand.

So, 7 hours in, Y1 now looks like it has spent a week being swarmed over by sticky fingered kids

An hour or so's buffing later, the job's a good 'un:

After Lee's hard work, the car looks fantastic - the paint has a far greater clarity and depth, and the few swirl marks the car had acquired over the last 10 months have been removed.

Lee is thoroughly nice chap, and I am happy to unreservedly recommend Lee's talents to anyone.

Many thanks Lee!
