Mine looks just like a coupe from here

I remember seeing it parked up at Angelsey last time I was there.

It definitely works in that colour

Did anyone ever get round to driving a CSL?

I need dissuading, terrible on motorways aren't they?

There's been a few CSs pop up now, varying prices and specs, I think it might be just the compromise I'm looking for.

My other question is, would it be madness to spend top money on an absolute minter and not expect it's value to plummet over the next couple of years as the V8s become cheaper?

I have thrashed a CSL around the ring, but not on motorways. Go drive one. It's probably ok on motorways.

A CSL will retain value. All other M3's will continue to plummet.

I went to look at one Graham, but didn't have time to drive it. Wasn't in good condition so I wasn't very motivated

Probably the best road / track car I could think of, moreso that a GT3 which is a bit more track biased imo.

I'm not sure whether I should even drive one, I could be opening Pandora's box

I just had an alert from BMW AUC about a CS that ticks every box...

A friend of mine has a CSL, I may be driving it in a couple of weeks, as he wants to take his 328 with him also

He was on the France trip I did last year, certainly wasn't complaining about it.

You should just go and buy one

Buy the best car - accept nothing less, with a reasonable mileage

You can then budget on it retaining 60% of what you paid for it over 4years - based on what I have just done

Get the proper BMW warranty, maintain it, and budget another £1500 a year to spend on the car (before standard running costs)

My one concern would be paying £20K for an E46

I'd think I'd want to be paying a little less

I've thought about it some more, I'm not buying a CSL

It's just not the right car for the job. If I was to take a break from racing and planned to do more track days it might make sense.

Putting motorway miles on something that special would be a crime IMO.

Another time maybe.
