You're not gonna break your DCT are you? Mind I saw spares of all varieties the other day on pissedonheads including an M3 V8 for less than an s2k engine

I get 18 mpg but no smoke

DCT, can take 600 lbft before they 'start' to become unreliable. The 5 series have a different one and are a lot weaker only being handle to handle around 550.

I changed the apparently 'long life' oil too.

Few mentalists are knocking about with hybrid bigger turbos making circa 420bhp and just over 600 lb ft, I think it would be a handful without a better diff and it sort of defeats the point of the car in a way - not for me.

I agree, add driveability as you're doing with better maps etc but you may as well buy a 335i if you want to 'tune' for loads more grunt

I think it would surprise a lot as is
