I don't think the estate version is quite as bad as the saloon, but I'm betting it's going to be hideous.

Can we talk about something else now please?

Congrats.

I do admire those an awful lot!

Like Chilled put it, really.

If you must hang an engine out like that, at least keep its CoG low, to reduce pitching & yaw effect and provide a prettier, more aerodynamic bonnet line.

I never thought I'd use the word 'pretty' when describing a Subaru, but compared to those ugly brutes from Ingolstadt, it's really quite elegantly understated.

I think it is one of those cars that could really grow on one.

Postscript:

Where Chilled is slightly mistaken is the cleaning of the wheels - if you wish to look like the true aristocracy, cover your new Legacy entirely in thick mud!

You mean you don't want us to talk about depreciation?

The insurance is cheap, about half that of the S

Nick, you can't really see from the pictures but there's quite a bit of mud up the sides from where I almost got it stuck in a field at my brother's, it does suit it

I don't think the auto box helps with the figures but it feels quicker than it is on paper. There's definitely faster out there for similar money but it's more than quick enough for my needs.

The Spec-B hasn't got any more power than the normal 3.0R. All the differences are in the suspension, inverted struts from the STI, that sort of thing. My kind of car

It's heavy, there's a torque converter and 4wd does add a huge inertia.

Sixes aren't that torquey low down.

That's why cars in that segment need about 400bhp these days, in order to become truly rapid.

The car's more about mid-range ability/relaxed cruising.
