If that was before it was fixed, then totally unacceptable, but if they'd sorted the radiator, it would almost qualify as a reasonable test run. They weren't out that long and weren't too stupid.

Presumably his tracker told him where they'd been, but who was taking the pictures? Did he have a hidden camera?

125 on A road classes as stupid.
Especially as there were a fair few warning signs peppered about the place.

you're not safe anywhere

A Ford main dealer smashed up my old Scorpio when ywo mechanics took it out at lunchtime (was never explained why)

sadly you have to have an eye to eye before leaving the car

"it will not be taken out for a drive, will it?"

"it doesn't have any dents, does it?"

etc

Rest assured, when my car has to go somewhere for something, I fiddle with the RSM so that my speed limiter cuts in at 30mph.

Any attempt to go higher results in a CEL

There are a couple of little devices available that take footage and GPS data, they are designed for continuous recording, dropping frames from older footage. In the event of an accident they auto store an amount of footage leading up to the accident, triggered by a G sensor, They also have a button which manualy triggers the same result.
