Default Your first car

At 17/18years old after crashing two 1.1i forte's in 1995/6 I bought K610GWT for £3000!

I proceeded to spend every little scrap of cash on it. I worked 3 jobs around my own little business and still had nothing left to take my girlfriend out on a weekend! Priorities still havent changed!

Back to the car, she had koni suspension / OMP braces/ poly bushes/ YokohamaA509s (till they stopped making them)braided hoses and black diamond discs!

The engine had the synonymous re jet and K&N filter complimented by that giant Scorpion 2x2.5inch inwardly rolled SS exhaust! It rolling roaded at 108bhp!! enough for 125mph (valve bounce in 5th)!!!

I was faster than anything on the road (at least i thought so) I even engaged a duel with a F360 in 1999 thinking i would probably waste him !!

After a lot open road rallying I sold her for 850 quid poor thing, she served me well

where is she now i wonder!

My first mini. Pic taken in 2002 in Newquay.

Bought it at 15 for £400, and restored it up until I passed my test at 17

998cc, cooper interior, lowered and an RC40 exhaust/K&N. 60bhp Ha.

I loved that car and learnt alot about mechanics working on it! It served me well on two trips to newquay

I had a K reg Citroen AX. Bought by my family for my 18th for about £700. It lasted about 6 months, and in total honesty was in the garage every 3 weeks, terrible car lol.

Handbrake cable went
Electrical fault whereby the brake lights stopped working
Speedo and clock lights stopped working which were never fixed
Clutch cable went
Needed new front bumper and lights after van hit me in country lanes
Wheel bearing went
Startmotor went
Cam belt went and bent a piston - Was then written off :-)

I suspect the headgasket didn't have long left as there was white mixture building up in the coolent bottle.

Car was owned by a good friend of family before me, had 2 previous owners with full service history from Citroen dealers.

K-reg Rover Metro Impression in turquoise was mine, loved it and still cant understand how it took all the abuse I threw at it. It used to be awesome sideways through the woods next to Silverstone after work!

a 1951 Ford Anglia (angle box) cost me £70 quid. It's a shame but I don't have a single picture but lots of memories with girlfriends

Mine was 1968 Triumph 1300TC - the same as this one here Triumph 1300TC.

70bhp

It cost me about £250 and was in excellent condition... had been owned from new by an old chap who had recently died. It was 17 years old and had done 38,000 miles from new. I had it a year before it was written off when I had a blowout coming home one night and hit a tree stump in a ditch...

1984 Dutton Phaeton.

Based around the Ford 1600 Crossflow, I bored it out to 1740, raised the compression, lightened the flywheel and fitted a high lift cam. It was fitted with a twin choke Dellorto, I couldn't squeeze twin 40s in. Changed umpteen gearboxes, it used to eat them for breakfast.

0-60 in 6.5 seconds, on a leaf sprung rigid axle, it taught me how to drive RWD cars.

I have pictures, but they pre-date all this new-fangled digital nonsense...
