Default '03 or not to '03

I took my girl in for service today and while waiting took a long look at the white '03 in the show room. I was offered 25K on a trade in (currently I have 22k miles on her), and transfer of my extended warranty for $31K. My only cost I am looking at now on my '01 will be 4 new tires come mid-summer.

Its just a whim of a thought, I certainly do not need a new car, and if I do trade, I will cry like a baby at losing my girl (I get overly attached to my cars) but what do you all think?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

not a bad deal..plus you would now have a glass window, plus all the other xtras.
-

-
I am not a huge fan of white, but if that does not bother you, it is not a bad deal at all. IMO

good luck w/what ever your choice

although i too would love to trade up to something w/ 0 miles and a wonderful glass rear window w/defroster (sigh), i think that it would be quite ridiculous to get rid of a car with just 24k miles and absolutely nothing wrong with it. it would be a "grass is greener" scenario i think. "wow, i sure would like that glass window and that perfect paint again" and then afterward i would think, "im such a dumbass...i had just 3 years left and now ive got another 5 ahead". if you can afford to i guess that is a moot point but not having a car payment is definitely under-rated IMHO.

i guess if you really wanna and can afford it knock yourself out....but oh the betrayal!! jk

Huskergirl I felt bad when I traded my 00 silverstone on the suzuka blue, but I got over it real fast. The only big question is what is in store for the 04 car and is it worth the wait. The good thing is you really can't go wrong keeping the one you got or waiting. That glass window is nice though.

I say, decide now...before you have me clear your corners!

That said, you'd be $6K in the hole IMO...just think of everything you could do to your beautiful red baby with $6K Hardtop, supercharger, more sponsor's goodies than you could shake a stick at...

Heck, you could even upgrade your ragtop to a new one and still have ~ $5K if that was your only interest.

Thanks for the great replies and very valid points. I have a couple of days to think about it since she is in the shop until Tuesday. They are working on her transmission.

At $0.25/mile, you just about cover the price jump in mileage deduction...

If you are saying you could walk out with a two model-year newer, 22K less miles, full warranty brand new car for $6K plus tax, sounds like a great deal if you like the color!

White with tan?

If I was in your predicament and had $6k (which I don't), I would jump at that opportunity. You already have 24000 miles on your car. Yes, in the grand scheme of things that is nothing, but if you can get a brand new car, with 0 miles, three years newer for only $6000, I'd say that's a helluva deal. True, you'll now be in the hole for another two years with payments, but there again, your budget every month allows for $xxx. for payments anyhow. Whats another 24 months?! Unless of course, you have some large expected life changes (job, marriage, children etc.) coming your way in the next two years, go for it! Life's too short.

Good luck whatever your decision.

Huskergirl, I say go for it. Of course, this is from someone who did the same thing a year or so ago. I loved my Berlina Black/Red. But when I saw that shimmering Sebring Silver in the showroom of the Honda dealer in New Jersey bathing in the halogen flood lights of the showroom's interior. I knew it. She was coming home with me.

And she did. The only thing I missed for awhile was the RED interior, but I just could'nt bear the ALL RED interior.

I saw a Grand Prix White/Tan the other week with Dave (w1ngman) in Richmond. It looked good. I wish Honda had kept the carpet black but I think it certainly looks classier.

On the money side, I received $26k for my '00 to trade on the '02 and I had about 38k miles. Might sound good, but bear in mind that I paid a $4k premium on the '00 when I first took delivery, back when $4k over sticker was still a GREAT deal!
