Benefit Dinner (Friday, August 22nd)

Charity Golf Classic - 2003 (Saturday, August 23rd)

The Dream Factory grants dreams to children who are between the ages of 3 and 18 years who have been diagnosed with critical or chronic illnesses. In order for a child to be considered eligible to receive a dream, he or she must meet the following criteria:
  • Is between 3 and 18 years.
  • Has a critical or chronic illness which must be verified on the application by the child's primary physician.
  • Has not received a dream from another wish-granting organization.
  • The dream must be the child's dream and not that of a parent, guardian or other concerned party. The child must be able to communicate the dream to a Dream Factory representative.
  • The Dream Factory of North Carolina, located in Greenville, N.C., was chartered in 1987 and has granted over 120 dreams to children in eastern North Carolina. Our chapter fulfills dreams to all without regard to race, creed, sex, religion, economic status, or national origin.

Our goal is to fulfill the child's dream and make it the most fulfilling experience of his or her life. We are a volunteer not-for-profit organization that is directed by an 18-member board of directors. The officers of the Corporation are the Chairman of the Board, President, President-elect, Treasurer, Volunteer Coordinator, Vice-President of Dream Fulfillment, and a Medical Liaison. All funding for our organization is done through donations from individuals and corporations. Our goal is to provide two dreams per month.

Dreams this year have included several entertaining trips to Disney World and Give Kids the World; a breath-taking trip to Hawaii; an exciting trip to Six Flags Over Georgia; day-long shopping sprees in Raleigh and Rocky Mount; several home computers with desks and software; a laptop computer and software; and a thrilling trip to Fayetteville to meet the WWE superstar, "The Rock".

The Dream Factory of North Carolina is busy trying to fulfill the dreams of children in eastern North Carolina. For information about eligibility criteria, becoming a volunteer, making a contribution or to receive a dream application, email us at dreamfactorync@cox.net or send mail to The Dream Factory of North Carolina, P.O. Box 3557, Greenville, North Carolina, 27836-1557.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend the dinner on Friday. I'll be driving to Richmond for the Brake Clinic. A shame, really. If anyone here attends this charitable event, please share the news.
