Default almost T boned

as ya'll know i was recently in a motorcycle accident.i'm recovering okay. my doctor this past thursday give me the okay to start driving again thank god. well i was going to meet a old friend at a clock restaurant to eat. well i got the green to go thru the intersection to enter the clocks parking lot, some cat in a dodge ram 4x4 was planning to run the red light. by the time he got stopped, he was about 3 feet from the passenger door of my car after screeching to a stop.

what does this idiot do, he waves to me. what a asshole. ive come to the conclusion that driving is the most dangerous place to be now a days. the cure? cars need to be equipped with a 6 inch spike sticking out of the steering wheel pointing at the driver instead of an airbag. maybe that would make them pay attention to what thier doing! pardon my rant folks. to all of my fiends here on s2k, please be carful and have a safe holiday.

I've spent my whole professional career in manufacturing, working for a couple companies that both have had a top priority of safety. A lot of that emphasis comes home as well.

Coming from such a background, it amazes me how we as a society choose to discount the importance of safety with respect to one of the most dangerous things that we all do (driving). Our training is poor (driver's ed is a joke), our testing is poor (years ago, I got my license by driving around in a parking lot for 5 minutes), our enforcement is poor (we focus on speeding because it's easy and generates revenue), and in general our culture is poor (we act like it's a right to not only drive, but do so while eating, reading, texting, and talking on our cell phones). Furthermore, while I think that safety innovations such as airbags, and crush zones, etc., are great, prevention is much better.

I'm glad to hear that your near miss was just that, and that you're progressing well. Stay safe.

Glad you're still recovering well and that the guy stopped short of you. It amazes me how others do wrong on the road and then get mad at the person who does right.

For years the German's couldn't figure why you would need a cupholder in a car......you are driving they would ask. Why would you be drinking something when you should be concentrating on driving the car.

Seems to make sense to me. I drive about 30 to 35K miles per year for work and I see some amazing things while driving. Everything from people reading a book to balancing there check book to eating and just about everything else but driving the damn car. My Dad was a fireman and I went too and saw plenty of bad accidents and I think people today are so isolated in there car that they don't get a sense of what can happen to them. There is a S2000 owner here in Raleigh that got T-boned by someone in a truck and he is in really bad shape. He is recovering slowly but I am sure we never be quite the same.

Be careful out there and remember the other person most likely isn't paying attention to what they are doing.
