Default Anyone using Kpro in NC?

There seems to be a lot of debate on whether Kpro will pass inspection. While no CEL are thrown, the testing computer can detect that it is a RSX PRB ECU and this has raised issues in some states. Has anyone in NC passed inspection (w/o a hook-up) with a Kpro?

AEM Chris........still have inspection issues, but the new version i believe is more of a plug n play so you can swap it out in 20min when inspection time comes.

you have to make sure to put the vin number in on the kpro. At least with the k-series cars if you dont do that then it wont pass. I'm not sure if it would pass w/the S being a different ecu and all. Thats where i would start.

I dont' have direct experience specifically with your subject but I do have a general idea. My suggestion is that if it comes down to it, you can either use a VAFC in conjunction with the stock ECU is using aftermarket injectors to scale them down during inspection. Or you can do the match and reduce the base fuel pressure through an adjustable FPR accordingly with the stock ECU. That's assuming that you would need the stock ECU by itself to pass inspection..

^well you cant really properly scale the duty cycle on larger injectors with just an afc, although I suppose using the fpr to lower the fuel pressure well below stock would hold them back. As far as passing the inspection goes, the ecu should work fine as long as the crank sensor etc etc has been matched and replaced to be complient with the kpro. Im not sure if these odb2 ecus work this way, but you may just have to have the new vin flashed into the computer. North Carolina in particular is rediculous with their emissions laws and I have learned to just suck it up and get the car down to stock and get it passed. Very time consuming, Yes. Effective, yezzir. I know there are a couple guys running kpro in California, Ill have to see who it was and ask what they are doing to get by...

you can make injectors about 2x the size of stock work with a vafc.. just remember that it severly throws off the ign timing.

I would keep your money, go aem and slap the stock ecu and injectors in when its time for inspection

+1 on the EMS. It will be much easier to make it work with the car, just dont desptry your factory injector harness and hold on to the oem injectors, clips, n ecu
