Default Body shop in Triangle Area

My dad had a hit and run on his S2000 and I need a good repair shop in the Triangle area. Car is in Chapel Hill so the closer the better.

Here are pictures:

Check out the bottom of this thread. I know Dave(parkerdt) and believe me he doesn't make recommendations easily. http://forums.s2kca.com/showthread.php?t=28734

I have also seen some of the work from this shop and it is first class.
Good luck.

Sorry about that bad luck - hit and run sucks! Take that sucker to Gibson's Autoworks! Sorry for the damage, but Frank will fix you up so you'll never be able to tell. His contact info is in the link Kevin (mlc) posted above. It'll be his 5th S, if I'm remembering correctly And he is GREAT at matching New Formula Red - a notoriously difficult color to match.

I like my body work done one way - perfectly. That is why Frank has done 3 vehicles for me, and will do my next one when i need him.

Haw River isn't too far from Chapel Hill, as well. Tell him Dave Parker referred you.

I have no relationship with Frank or his shop other than I get him to fix my cars when they are messed up....

Thanks for the info and help! Looks like it would be a 50 minute drive which is probably on the longer side of what I would want but I will keep them in mind!
Anyone know about Auto Shape on Capitol in Raleigh? They are highly recommended on Autopia. I figure people on autopia probably are perfectionists and know their paint!

Also I make trips to charlotte fairly often and some quick searching on here shows overwhelming loyalty here to import paint and body, so I might try to check them out.

50 mins from Chapel Hill? No way. 30 mins tops. And you have to go right by there on the way to Charlotte. If you want a perfectionist, go to Frank. His main work is restoring classics for resale.

Closer than Raleigh, too.

Make sure you talk to Frank. I think you will be pleased.

As to time - where in Chapel Hill are you? I live in Mebane at exit 153 off I85/40. Frank is about 5 mins from me. I can be at the 15-501 exit off of I-40 (Durham Chapel Hill blvd in 15 mins, no problem, without significantly speeding.... Now, if you come up 54, yes, it'll take a bit longer.

In any case good luck with the repairs. I hate seeing an S like that!

I live more towards UNC. I am about a little bit out in the country about 10 min from UNC. It takes me about 20 min to get the I-40 Chapel Hill blvd exit. Internet directions are taking me down 54.

I know I haven't seen the S yet (I don't live at home with my perents) but it is going to hurt to see it, especially since it was a hit and run. And this happened in the UNC hospital employee deck that you have to have a card to get into, so it must have been an employee. I am hoping the Campus Police got it on video, there are supposed to be checking because there are cameras in the deck.

I'll keep you all updated on what happens with this

Ok so my mom got quotes from Hatley's body shop in Carrborro and Johnson Body shop in Durham
http://johnsonbodyshop.com/index.htm

I have used Hatley's before and they are ok at touch ups but I don't think I trust them with the S2000 and such a big repair. Johnson is who does Crown Honda at Southpoint's Body work but I do not know anything else about them.

The quotes were for $863 and $917.

Both shops said they would have to buy a new door skin for $249 and then paint it and put it on.

Before all that, I called Gibson's and he said he couldn't give me a quote over the phone, even with pictures, without seeing it in person which I total understand. That was before I got these other quotes though so I will call him tomorrow and see if he can give me a quote now that I know exactly what needs to be done.

Also is there somewhere I could buy the door skin for cheaper that $249? or am I best off just buying it from the shop.

I think it will be time well-spent to take a drive to see Frank Gibson. You will likely get to see some of his work in progress, and you'll see what I mean by craftsmanship. Frank was less expensive than any other quotes I got, as well, and he'll work with insurance companies.

I've used Johnson in Durham but that was like 15 years ago, so I can't really comment on their work a this time. That shop has changed hands a few times since then, tho.
