easy to say as long as its not pouring down. not willing to take that risk. i will either go back to a stock/modded box or a fipk kit. injen intake is awesome other than that possibility.

I'm not trying to sway you either way, but I drove about 45 miles in the middle of hurricane Gustav getting my rear to the right AO. Not a single hick-up. I've also daily driven my AP1 with a AEM V2 for almost six years. That being said, a intake doesn't really do squat for this car. I only keep it on because it really cleans up the bay, and well I own it so i might as well use it. If you're at the point of considering a FPIK, I would just stay stock.

My current one isnt the FIPK system, just a rigged up pipe with a filter.

my 00 had the injen CAI in the bumper.

note that some people cut out the bumper vent for air flow. i would definitely not recommend this as all bets are off at that point, and as was said, you dont get that much in gains. sounds cool though.

with the luck i've had with this car, my best bet is to go back stock/modded box with a k&n filter. my other has that setup for several years with no issues. now the challenge is to find someone whos willing to trade or sell theirs.

I love the cold air vs ram air debates. Some people have had good experiences and some have had bad- it is kinda like frivolous unprotected sex with strangers. Some catch things while others are lucky and never do.

I'm one of the lucky ones! Over a quarter-million miles now...most with various CAIs...no 'Ka-BOOM's...yet. Presently I have a bypass valve installed inline in my CAI. But I take precautions when I drive (ex. I've been in downpours in Richmond that have stopped all lanes of traffic on I-95 for miles...and when forced to drive through *standing-water* as folks queue down into a single lane with ~ 6" of standing water...I'll park my car on the side of the road, turn off the motor, and wait it out thank-you-very-much )

thats great dave. does the bypass valve work? i've priced stock boxes and for the price of a stock setup, i can buy a k&n fipk. have to ponder on this more.

I've had an AEM CAI on my Integra since 2001 and for most of that time I have also not had a fender lining installed (though not really voluntarily; somehow it's been ripped off once and then sliced up with a knife another time. $200 item so I stopped replacing it). My filter is about 5" off the ground and I haven't had any engine problems. Unless the filter is mostly submerged in water you will not suffer from hydrolocking. Splashing through a deep puddle is fine. Just be careful and not stupid and you'll do fine. Also if you cannot avoid a super deep puddle just let your engine idle. If it sucks up any water it will just sputter out and not damage the engine.

I've had to AEM v1 and v2 and its sort of an issue. If you leave the car on jackstands during a rainstorm especially with the frontend up higher these CAI's will collect water in the elbow you have to remember to drain it
