Default Career change time?

So I am thinking about leaving the field of computer graphics. It just doesnt seem to produce the income I had hoped for and the abundance of GOOD graphics jobs in this area seem to be next to none. I am starting to come to the conclusion that maybe I should abandon ship and think of other fields to get into. I've always been good with computers... building, fixing and networking them etc etc... but I went to GTCC for computer graphics specifically so I am pretty much "specialized" there. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can get into now that pays decent? Something in the field of computers is probably going to be my best bet but what?

Dell? They offer people with knowledge up to 15 an hour. It could be a nice foot in the door kinda job. Also check out a sales oriented job. Almost unlimited income potential, and flexible schedules.

From what I've heard, Google is opening something in NC. Let me look and see if I can find something on it...

Yup, google server farm in lenior. I think I remember reading it'll be like 200 jobs or so. They're also opening even larger server farms down in SC soon also. If I didn't enjoy my slack job (that allows me time to post here on S2Ki daily) I'd seriously consider trying to get a job down there as one is near Charleston and from what I've heard, that area is nice.

Dell in WS could work. There should be plenty of computer related jobs in the area (not necessarily graphics but other tech related areas), especially if willing to travel/move towards the Raleigh area. Lots of big tech companies there. Check out red hat as their main offices are in RTP and I know they always have some kind of openings.

What about advertising? Marketing? SunCom has an in-house graphic designer that works on all of our ads and promo materials. I'm not sure what SunCom pays him...but I'm sure it's at least $50k...plus awesome benefits...

Biggest thing for you will be experience and time at the job...Best of LUCK!!!

Just come out and bust ya ass in construction like me...

Benefits: Travel daily, pretty much make your own hours, free suntans, intense workouts and exercise, and no one really breathing down your neck all the time...

Not for everyone, but it works for me... I cannot just sit in an office all day from 9 to 5...
Already tried...

I second airgates suggestion, our company has a team of designers (our visual media team) who do everything from corporate videos, e-newsletters, ads, banners, anything.

our former US LEC corporate designer used to do web design and graphic design at an agency and she said she liked working as a corporate designer more - the work was less creative but she got to work across a broader range of media and she felt much more challenged overall.
