Good tip! The shower might be especially good this year.

I'm going to be playing with my brand new

while I'm watching for the shower this year.

The peak for the east coast is supposed to start at about 11:45pm.

I've been playing with it for a few days. The first one I got wouldn't get a GPS lock. From all the comments on the Yahoo SkyScout forum there was a fairly large bad batch.

The Discovery store got me a new one within a week. It works just as advertised and is a cool hack. I love it becuase it took existing tech and put it together in a really inovative way.

Recomended.

It's great to show the sky to a group.

You can plug the audio into a speaker and strap a green laser on the SkyScout. Eveyone can see where the SkyScout is pointing and hear the audio discription.

It'll get people interested.

Leonids are awesome.. I remember the 2001 shower I spent literally ALL freezing night on the deck of the observatory at FMU.. was well worth it!

Thanks for the tip. Where in the sky do I look?

I was at Edisto Beach in October for the Orionid shower. Got up at 3:30 to watch it and was not disappointed. It rained meteors, often several per minute!
