Default Is the clucth noisy?

I took out the U-boat on Sunday (needed a fix) and did some dead start
practice (I think I have mastered a 2500 rpm clutch drop ---- yeah, I know
is no big deal to most of you so shut up!)

After 2 hours of start and stop driving I really began to notice that
my clutch makes a lot of noise compared to my daily driver (which
makes no noise whatsoever). So i am wondering if this is a normal
thing or have I damaged the clutch already (2500 miles)?

There are a few distinctive noises I can hear:

1. Shift to neutral, disengage the clutch. I can hear a faint bearing like
noise, it is constant and too faint to hear if I rev up past 1500 rpm. The
noise is not there when the clutch is depressed.

It reminds me of the noise the tranny on my old Sentra was making before
I had to had it rebuilt. The noise was much lauder but it was present under
the same conditions.

2. An almost grinding noise in first and second right after shifting. It lasts
one or two seconds and then goes away as rpm increase. I have tried
different clutch engaging speeds and it seems to help but the noise is
always there.

3. Clearly audible noise when engaging on 2+. It seems to be only when
the engage point is reached. If I engage real slow or without reving up
past 4000 rmps I can get it to not make that noise.

Comments anyone?

P.S. I have stalled the clutch once (on the Pittsboro, Jordan Lake run)

Those clucth can be noisy if the ductthhhh are clotthhhh by.

But seriously, I wouldn't say those sounds are normal. I suggest you change the transmission fluid right away. Once you pull the drain plug you can Peking to see what's going on. * * If basting the clucth in fresh pan drippings doesn't help, well........

your gooth ith cooked.

(:rofl; Sometimes I just kill myself!)

what a stupith mistake.... I guess it wasn't enough to
proof read the message...

I read xviper's post on flushing the clutch fluid.... may have to
wait until July when work quiets down for me. How much worse
can I make it if I drive it with a damaged clutch for three weeks (
it would only actually something like 3 days.... on the weekends)?

The clutch fluid drain is different from changing the tranny fluid. Those sounds and conditions are more like transmission issues. Try changing the tranny fluid and see if that helps. It's inexpensive and easy to do.

Don't forget, you'll need to replace the drain bolt washer. It's available at your Honda dealer or online at HandA (sponsor) and costs only pennies. You'll also need a fluid pump available at auto parts stores for around $8.00.

Come to the Wilmy meet this weekend and I'll help you.
