Back from the dead.

I had good luck with not replacing them but just tightening them back up with an impact gun, and then re-tanging the nut. This is what I also did for Ryan's car to fix this very problem above. Pop off your rear wheel and you will see a big nut (I believe 34 or 36 mm), that is the axle nut that you will tighten.

Good Luck,

Craig

just an FYI...re-torquing the axle nut after you've heard the noise isn't a "fix"

it's a bandaid. you could have a bearing going bad, in which case the noise will be back.

I have done this to my personal car and to three other S2000's and none have come back. I had put over 10K miles on my "band-aid".

Ps your welcome Ryan(one of my satified "band-aid" recipiants.)

yeah yeah I know it took me over a month, but I finally took care of this issue today.
I had another mechanic buddy change out my brake pads, and I showed him what I wanted done with the axle nuts, and had to face a wtf look from him and another mechanic at the shop, and their explainations about how greasing these axle nuts really wouldnt do much- but you know what? It worked! and they were surprised.
Noise is gone.
Hopefully it will be quiet for a long while.

I know that when you go to tighten the nut, before would be a good time tolube the splines of the axle, then tighten it. it makes it easier for the nut to pull it tight when you tighten it. this is a honda service bulletin. had a certified honda mechanic show me this.
