Dealership Woes
Okay, I thought I got a good deal on a 2002 S2K, ($18,700) I purchased it w/all the Honda "Certified" used paperwork, and am now begining to think I got ripped off. I am posting this thread in the hopes that you could offer some direction/advice for me to deal with the rollercoaster of confusion, since I purchased the car. Here is the good and the bad.
Took the car home on April Seventh
-Didn't get both sets of keys, called the dealership, got an IOU from them, new keys took 2 visits a week and a half later, for them to cut & program.
-Honda certified used cars are supposed to come with all standard equipment, (I found out by reading the certification book.) My car didn't come with the convertable "boot" so, they ordered it for me, 4 weeks ago, it still hasn't arrived.
-Found out that the car has been in a front end collision, when I tried to put my licence plate plugs in, and, though minor, it still invalidates the "certified used" as far as I know.
-The clutch was slipping from day one, which I honestly thought was my fault... well, it started slipping even WORSE, so I decided it WASN'T my fault, took the car in, and the SALES department paid to replace my clutch, throwout bearing, and pressure plate.
-Now, the check engine light is on, and I am taking the car back AGAIN in a few minutes, a little more than irate. (I just got it back yesterday)
-What, if any, recourse do I have, any Ideas? or did I just get SCREWED?

I bought mine Certified also years ago. I didn't have the boot (which I would have used about 10 times so don't really care), I did get them to send me an extra set of keys but I ended up buying remotes for it as they didnt have them and I got tired of waiting.
The collision issue is a problem, and I have seen other members get cars that had had damage under certification. As far as I know, thats not supposed to happen.
Drivetrain issues should have been fixed prior to purchase (I assume you did test drive it), but got fixed anyway... as long as they gave you a rental, no harmm there.
But geez.. you only paid 18, xxx so you got the car at a really good price pending milage.
Have them check out the CEL, it will be an issue for them to fix, so no big deal there eigther. Sounds like this car wasn't in its best condition at purchase.
Were there any aftermarket parts on it, or can you tell if there ever were? This will help you understand the type of person that previosly owned it and how it was treated. You may want to get another member here who can tell these things to give it a look over... the look over isn't covered under warrenty but can be had for the price of a beer.

Sounds like you finally got both main keys, but did you get the fobs too? What about the valet key? (I never got my valet key, but did get both main sets.) I wouldn't worry too much about the boot - 99% of people never even take them out of the plastic.
How exactly do you know the car was in a collision? The clutch assembly should all be replaced under warranty, so as long as you don't pay, you're fine. As for the check engine light, have the dealer run the code - it may be as simple as the oil change timer what is your mileage?

Well, I wasn't going to call out the dealership, or anything... thanks Airgate... lol, you're right though, Pinky is coolbeans, Nicky rubbed me the wrong way, but he seems professional and competent.
Update:
The CEL was a vacuum line issue, it was fixed in about 10 minutes... the mileage was 32,000 when I purchased it.
Prior to purchase: I did test drive it, and the clutch slipped once... I thought I had come off it too fast, so I assumed it was my fault, lucky for me the dealer wrote it in the post ride remarks, or I would've paid for that. I looked under the hood pretty closely to see if there were any marks or evidence of removed bolt-on parts, and didn't see any. However, just to be safe, I extended the warranty out to 100,000 miles powertrain. Although, the transmission isn't covered under that warranty. The Sales department footed the bill there, though, so it's all fair.
The front end collision is my biggest peeve, honestly, and the convertable boot, well, that's just an issue of principles.
The car is supposedly 100% now, and regular scheduled maintenance should suffice... to be continued, I am sure
