Talking FALL MCDRAGON!

If you want to eat dinner at the Iron Horse (any night) be sure and call them directly to make a reservation, so they can plan for a headcount!

Dragon Fans!

The first official fall "non-event" is about to commence..... McDragon '05, Part Deux!!

What is it? ?
McDragon is a small gathering of S2K owners who want nothing more than a cool place to stay that's near the Dragon, a "community" place to hang out, eat, drink, play pool, etc., and get in LOTS of Dragon runs.

Basically, it means nothing is organized or scheduled (hence the "non-event" status), just make yourself a reservation if you're interested, or just show up! What makes this fun, is it's just an excuse to get some great people together to enjoy our favorite road, and the "mountain" atmosphere.

WHEN? : Second weekend in November - 11/12-11/13.

WHY SO LATE? We thought it would be fun to run the Dragon when the leaves (and hence the leaf-peepers) are all gone, giving you longer visibility through the curves. Less traffic + greater visibility = more FUN! Sure...there's a chance that it might be COLD (or worse!), but hey....there's no money required, so if the random ice storm comes in, we just don't go.

WHERE TO STAY? We wanted to go for a less-expensive, more "mountainy" type place, so we've picked Iron Horse Lodge, which is primarily a motorcycle resort, but they take "non-bike" people from November-April. Sounds like a cool place.

They have a central pavilion/game room, restaurant, outdoor firepit, and a variety of lodging options: Private rooms with private baths, cabins with semi-private rooms (meaning 2 rooms share a bath), a bunkhouse and bathhouse for cheaper digs, and campgrounds for those truly hardy souls. Plus....they're between Robbinsville and Fontana Dam, so they're a short jaunt from the Dragon.

Private rooms: $80/night
Semi-private cabin rooms: $55 or $65/night (available with Queen beds or 2 twins)
Bunkhouse: $18/night
Campsites: $15/night if you bring everything, $35/night to "rent a tent" for 2 (includes cots and linens)

Check out their website for details and pictures:

To make a reservation, call The Iron Horse directly at: 828-479-3864, and say you're with the "Honda S2000" group. I have 4 private rooms and 4 semi-private rooms held until October 15th.

Ron and I will definitely be there....hope you can join us!

What is the departure plan? Are you all planning to go up Friday?

I am supposed to be off that Friday, 11/11 for Veterans Day. We have a MAJOR system swap that Sunday, 11/13. I am not sure I can make it. I may have to return Saturday night.

I may actually have a real job by then and vacation time. I may be in. I need to do a McCheese event. If the job pans out, I will try to make it.

Crap. The annual Fireworks Festival I go to is that weekend, otherwise I'd be sorely tempted to make the drive.

You kids have fun and don't feed the animals (especially the Dragon!)...

I know, I know.....but I've logged 120K miles with American Airlines this year. and I'm headed over to Tokyo/Seoul/Beijing/Shanghai on Sunday.

I'd go more often if I were in the city/state/country more often.

On the upside, I'm not putting many miles on the S
