OK...the "Annoy-a-tron" plant in my car aside.......... (grrrrrr; SC_Highlander beware!)
We had a wonderful time! There was the added "plus" of airgate gracing us with his presence on Sat/Sun. (Great pictures, BTW!)
Some highlights:
- "Hilltops and Hollers" drive on Sunday afternoon, while LEO was all over the Dragon (from DBR 2008 program; awesome drive!)
- Sunday morning and ALL DAY Monday; clean, near-perfect Dragon runs!
- A "forced" hike through Joyce Kilmer Forrest
- Dinners and wine with friends
- Celebrating a new marriage (Congratulations again!)
- Huskergirl driving down from Chicago
- sheadlee's free firewood "scavenge" and awesome fire-building skills
- Fall colors; near-perfect weather <sigh>
Didn't want to come home..........
Now I'm pissed off that I missed it.
Make me feel better about not going... what happened that sucked?
That was a long, boring drive home. Mostly rain the whole way but my cheap and ugly Falken tires made my normally skittish S drive like a mud buggy through the rain.
However, the long drive let me think about the really, really great weekend. Its was great to see the Carolina group again and Dead-bird included! Lots of fun drives, good food and drink, and a lovely, scenic and very educational hike through the forest.
1,549 miles of good fun should get me through the winter!

Glad you made it home safe, Kallan! I was worried about your return trip as I watched the weather channel (damn, I *am* getting older...I'm starting to watch the weather channel - LMAO!).
Also...the email from my topic subscription showed you typed in KUMHO vs. FALKEN...LOL! But I see it's been corrected.
How nice it was to meet a group of friendly S folks on the legendary Dragon.
After realizing it was going to take another 30 or 45 minutes to clear that motorcycle accident on the tail, we turned around hoping to find you guys again. We pulled in to Deals Gap only to see the tail lights of a group of S's cornering rather swiftly on to 28. We jumped in the car to follow your lead, but less than a mile from the intersection we came across another motorcycle down and by the time we stopped to make sure they were okay, you guys were just a memory. We pulled over at the Fontana and didn't see any S2's around and not wanting to lose the advantage of having all the cops busy with accidents, we decided to do our own spirited ride and ended up at Tellico Plain. Found a cabin along the river and had a great dinner at the Riverstone Grill.
What a beautiful part of the country and friendly people.
If things work out, we look forward to seeing all of you at the WTD
