I've always used sandpaper.

Progressive wetsanding, from 2500/2000 up to 1000. Then buffing with either hand, or a buffer.

Kirk and myself used the 3M headlight kit that costs around $23 at walmart and Kirks were SERIOUSLY yellow and hazed badly. They got cleaned up pretty good and they still shiny over 8 months later. I did mine shortly after he did his headlight and mine are looking as good as ever and used the same kit on my 92 dodge dakota headlights and they were yellow as hell and came out crystal clear. But the 3M kit you need a drill, blue painters tape and patience and you are good to go in your own garage. Heres pics of mine

Lol seen that kit the other night. That's what made me post the thread up. Been thinking about getting that kit and just doing it myself.

What protectant have you used since you did the headlights?

Funny I just posted something about this in the Wash and Wax forum.

My headlights were a little hazy (nothing extreme) and I wiped them down a couple times with 303 and they cleared right up. I did it just to prevent it from getting worse and was pretty shocked at how much better they look with just the 303 on them.

Worth a shot!

i bought mothers kit from walmart a few weeks ago, starting using just the polishing bit and it cleared up alot but did not take out the deeper scratches. i proceeded to do the full process on the other headlamp and it did a great job, just needed to polish it for a while. there are some micro scratches from the finest sandpaper i can still see but they are extremely fine and hard to notice.

all in all pretty easy job. just get a fully charged power drill and some time and elbow grease.
