Default A Hero is Among Us

Most of us go through life on a day-to day basis mucking through the tasks of work and family just to get to the next day. Others set out to make a real difference in this world by aiming high, setting lofty goals and dedicating themselves to hard work and great personal sacrifice. A Carolina's Forum member has done just that and its time to bring his life to the forefront.

"cutuesday", better known as Neil, has spent the past few years earning a degree in Public Administration while working full time as a fireman and teaching at a community college at nights. No small task!

On September 27 he will graduate. On September 28 Neil will leave for Iraq as a speicial contractor to teach in a country in dire need of his life saving skills. In the face of radical suicide bombers, IED's and people bent on taking life he has chosen to undertake a mission to give life.

Neil is a special person, more sensitive than any man I've ever known. His ability to connect with people goes beyond anything I've ever witnessed. His sensitivity to the needs of others is exceeded only by his compassion for their well-being. In all aspects of his life he gives himself for the benefit of others. Its not surprising that he has chosen this mission.

Neil, my friend, my doo rag is off to you! May God truely bless you in all that you do.

God speed and a safe return.

Phil

Wow! Those are the kindest words anyone has ever spoken of me. Thank you. I am but one of thousands of Americans who are making sacrifices in the effort to preserve life and freedom. I have been inspired by those who have gone before me. Many of whom are a part of the S2ki community.

I had planned on updating the forum of my plans but you have stated it much better than ever could. There is little more to be said except that I will try to keep everyone updated. I do not know how often I will be able to log on, but I will do my best. I might even be fortunate enough to be able to spend more time online with my S2ki Carolinas friends than I do now. If anyone would like to correspond while I am deployed, I will be using the following e-mail address: S2kR1bnc@yahoo.com

I would like to thank all of the Carolinas members for being such great friends. Although I have not been able to participate as much over the past two years, I will always treasure the time I have shared with each of you at various meets. They were among the best and most exciting times of my life. This group has some of the most intelligent, capable, generous, and engaging individuals in the world. I can only hope that the younger members and future members follow the example.

I can't wait to see everyone again next September!
