I bargain for a genuine fake Tag watch. It was a super copy but after I got him down to E 75, I decided not to buy. Pissed him off.
Guano, if your number was 75 euros and he met it, then you had agreed to buy the watch. You welched on a deal you had agreed on. He was right to be pissed. If your number was lower and he never came down to it, then you had no deal and he was just posturing and no big deal. If he felt that you were only bargaining for sport then he probably was annoyed. Its how business is done in Turkey.
I know what you mean about gaining weight. I went on "cruise control" three days into our cruise and still gained 6 pounds.
Did you go to Topkopi Palace in Istanbul?
we didn't go to Istanbul. The only Turkish port we visited was Kusadasi. We traveld from there by bus to the ruins at Ephesus. That was a real interesting site.

Efes (Ephesus) is GREAT. I haven't seen it in about 17 or 18 years, though. They were doing a restoration of the Library at that time. Really cool stuff to see there. What I remember most is that it was hotter than snot the last time I was there.
Santorini looks beautiful. I saw some of the Greek islands and mainland but I'm sorry I missed Santorini. Oh well, maybe some time in the future.
Beside the Library is the entrance to the marketplace.
The marble road beside the marketplace has the first billboard in history. A carving in the road advertises the local brothel. The woman represents, well...women. The purse means you'll have to pay and the left foot means turn left here. There's also some significance about the SIZE of the foot.
Other highlights include Hercules' Columns. Touch them as you pass through and you'll have the strength of Hercules.
This is the goddess Nike, the goddess of victory and peace. Nike, the shoe company, knew of this sculpture and their logo, the swoosh, was taken from the statue. Can you see it?
And finally, my favorite site in Ephesus. The Crapper.
