More good news! HOTRODS2000 ordered his lenses from Rick today and can do the Wilmington install also. I count 3 in Wilmington so far:

Just wanted to let you know W1ngman that I ordered clear diffusers and side markers from Ricks today. Now if I could just order some clear weather for the 28th we would have it made.

This is wonderful news folks! Thank you. For your benefit, I'm now asking that we limit this day to *this* group of 3 participants. While I'd love to take on more, there are sheer logistics in just how long it will take for each car. At best, figuring 3 hours per car, I've got 9 hours worth of work here.

Phil...why don't you post your address here (or PM the participants) so they can use Mapquest to locate your house. I would suspect this would mostly concern cutuesday.

While I absolutely invite everyone to visit for the entire day if they'd like (how presumptuous of me, eh Phil?), I'll suggest the following:
  • Raul and I will drive down and meet Phil (and others?) at Cracker Barrel for breakfast by 9am Saturday, Dec 28th.
  • I will work on Rod's car first. You are also local...but Phil will already be at his house. If things "take longer than expected" he won't have any driving to do!. Figuring we will begin by 11am at the latest. 3 hours will take us to 2pm for HOTRODS2000.
  • I'll work on cutuesday's next since Spring Lake is a drive to Wilmington. Not expecting you to huff it into Wilmington to make breakfast, so while you are free to arrive earlier, we'll otherwise expect to "cu" around 2pm
  • Phil, if you don't mind, and for the reason stated above, I'll do your car last. Figure we'll be starting on your car around 5pm and should be done by 8pm.

Then its a 2 hour drive back to New Bern! and then its across the state to Charlotte to play all over again with folks over there!

- Dave

PS. BIG PS here for clarification...In my initial "Noted" post on the Mid-Atlantic forum for this "Holiday Special" promotion, I made the following point, which I believe Raul failed to mention...

The OEM turn signal bulbs (behind the amber lenses) are clear. If you desire a different color, you should consider supplying any such replacement (with matching proper fitment) bulbs for this project. Some like the OEM bulbs to remain clear, some like amber bulbs from AutoZone to stay "legal", some like Hyper-white blue bulbs...its all a matter of taste. But interested folks should understand that this $120 Holiday Special does not include replacement turnsignal bulbs...its labor only (and my charming wit! )

I have found these amber bulbs locally at Pep Boys. I don't know NC law...but if you know you should have amber bulbs to remain legal, and you would like me to purchase you a pair (I can get them for $5/pair -- please be willing to reimburse me)...just let me know in this thread and I'll have them in hand for your install on Saturday. Thanks again!!!

Okay, I just ordered the diffusers and sent an email requesting delivery before 12/28. Hopefully that can be accomplished.

The garage and oven will be available, and so will the beer!

Ahhh, we're zipping up the Charlotte group now too! Gotta love it when a plan comes together! Thank you. While this is basically a copy/paste of the post I made for the Wilmington folks...I want to be sure that the Charlotte participants review this post here.... While I absolutely invite everyone to visit for the entire day if they'd like (how presumptuous of me, eh Kalan?), I'll suggest the following:
  • I should be able to begin work on smccoy's car first. You are also local...but Kalab will already be at her house. If things "take longer than expected" she won't have any driving to do!. Figuring we will begin by 11am at the latest. 3 hours will take us to 2pm for Sheila.
  • I'll work on SC_Highlander next since Greenville, SC is a drive to Charlotte, NC. Not expecting you to huff it into Charlotte, so while you are free to arrive earlier, we'll otherwise expect to you around 2pm
  • Huskergirl, if you don't mind, and for the reason stated above, I'll do your car last. Figure we'll be starting on your car around 5pm and should be done by 8pm.

Then I expect I'll visit my wife's grandmother in Charlotte that evening. Then its a six hour drive Monday back to Richmond, VA

As this thread has served its purpose (that of organizing two complete days of diffuser installs for a total of 6 participants ), I am moving over critical information to a new thread below. Please re-direct to that thread if you are a participant in need of communicating issues for the 28th or the 29th.

If you are an owner that is interested in participating in a future organized installation, please PM me and I'll drum up a new thread for sometime after the first of 2003.

Wilmington (Dec 28th) and Charlotte (Dec 29th) Installation of Clear/Smoked Diffusers

Thanks,
Dave
