K&N filter or a CAI?
Airgate and all,
Did you notice any performance increase with the K&N air filter?
It is time for me to replace the original and not sure what to do. Should I just do the filter or go with a whole cold air intake?
Thx,
Chris

I had the AEM for a few weeks on my S. I didn't really like the sound or the filter location. I now have a comptech drop in filter. I like it a lot. I can take the air box lid off and it doesn't lag like it did with the stock filter and sadly it sounds almost the same as the AEM. If I get another intake it will be the Comptech Ice box.

Airgate and all,

I have a K&N filter on my S2000 but I don't think it has any hp gains. I can also vouch for the Ingen CAI, that is some sweet sound!

Considering that the K&N filter is supposed to last for a million miles, I'd say to go with that and the price difference is only $10 from the OEM.
Hope that helps.
I had a KN airfilter but I really didn't notice any difference. So I gave in and got AEM CAI. I've considered Comtech and Injen but overall consensus was for AEM. I had it for over a month and so far I love it. I like the hollow sound it makes at low RPM and its ripping sound at VTEC. Let me tell ya: you CAN tell hp gain at low end. (and Dyno results to prove it) It's even better on cold days. By the way, AEM uses KN filter in their CAI system... Email me if you want some tips in installation. Took me approximately 4 hours.
Chris,
AusS2000 has a fiberglass CAI similar to the Comptec carbon fiber that attaches to the stock airbox. His requires no cutting of the hood and is much less expensive. Its available in several colors too. I'm pretty sure that's the way I'll go.
