Default local help on a strange noise........please

I posted this on the main forum but haven't had a response. Hope I'm not being impatient, I'm just curious(and a little worried). Maybe you guys can help. I've put about 400 miles on since I've had my S2000(MY 00, 58,XXX miles). For the first time today, I hear this strange noise coming from what sounds like the right rear. It occurs when first letting out the clutch/accelerating in 1st or 2nd and sounds like a pop. It sounds exactly like the chirp from my brother's 3000gt factory alarm when the alarm is set(I know, odd analogy). Anybody have a clue what this might be?

Oh, and if you remember "pop alot of trouble with the pop-o-matic bubble" from the board game "Trouble", it sounds like that as well. Thanks.

I did a search on "popping" and came up with several possible solutions. Try it and see if anything sounds familiar.

Yeah, I searched and found a few, but the ones I looked at seemed like they could be something else. Boiler responded to my post on the main forum and gave me a link to a thread that included a copy of a service "note" that seemed to match my problem exactly. Seems a little grease should cure the problem.

The only thing I can think about that could make a popping sound in the rear would be the CV joints. Or if you were parked for a while with the E-Brake set, the pad could have been rusted to the rotor. This would only happen once per long parking periods tho. Good luck.

Also check to make sure your spare tire is tight, hopefully this is your problem.
