Default Looking to relocate to NC

Hi all,

I'm a mid-50's S2000-driving guy, born in Kinston NC and spent most of my life in and around Raleigh/Durham. Job reasons necessitated our relocation to Cincinnati about 9 years ago. We're now looking at trying to move back to the area - Central Piedmont NC, preferably, but any place in NC or SC with decent job situations would be great!

I am a network engineer by trade, specializing in large installations of Cisco equipment. I've been doing this type of work for going on 30 years now, so I'm well experienced. My wife is a marketing or office manager type.

Can anyone in that area please chime in with your assessment of the current job market in that area in our fields? I'd appreciate any info as we try to get our plan together.

thanks!
Dave

Though my recent posts may speak to the contrary, once US LEC and PAETEC merge you (and your wife really) will be perfect for ideal new hires. check uslec.com and paetec.com for public details.

Offices (US LEC at least) in Raleigh, Greensboro and Charlotte.

PAETEC is a preferred partner with Cisco and Avaya, and apparently we'll be hiring marketing people post-merger (apparently).

RTP would be a great place as well, huge on biotech and there are a decent selection of PR/full service marketing agencies around the area as well.

That's about it for what I know.

Here is recent list of the best companies to work for in NC, at least according to "Fortune".

Of course, if you can locate around Charlotte, you will be closer to some great mountain driving!

Thanks all for the responses so far! Please keep them coming; I am going to investigate them all. Some great looking stuff here.

At the risk of offending some, I would prefer Greensboro and east, simply because after all this time away, I still have season tickets to Cameron Indoor Stadium for Duke Basketball. Could never bring myself to give them up, given the price of obtaining them again after an absence.

No offense taken if you're referring to me, raised in the Raleigh area so I know it's an attractive area for jobs, specifically in your field.

Good luck with the job search and the move, both to you and your wife!

Not just another Duke fan - a Duke grad! Class of '75.

I think I was the only (at least one of the few!) Lagunas at DBR6. Looking forward to seeing you all again at WTD - I'll probably be the only one hauling my kids, again,

LOL! If I lived in Charlotte, I'd spend ALL my spare time at the Dragon Two weekends a year are not enough.

Thanks for the links, all!
