Default loud sounds coming from my engine

there is a loud springing sound coming from my engine when i idle someone told me its common on s2ks and i was wondering how to fix this and what part it is

Timing Chain Tensioner? You'll probably get a bit more help in the tech forums... but the tensioner is a very frequent problem.

if its the TCT take out the worm gear sand blast it and reinstall

so just take out the TCT and clean it and put it back in this sounds is annoying hah i dont want my loved s2k to sound like shit

haha yeah good luck ljsimp took his out i sandblasted the worm gear for him he said sounded good as new. he said he tried sanding it but i couldnt tell when i saw it. its hardened so it needs to be blasted let us know. gl

Consider buying one straight-up from billman250 on the boards. He is a top-notch, and well-respected mechanic on our boards (member/owner in the NYC area). Bill re-tools the same worm gear with a better tensioner spring. It is an easy swap/fix part. PM him .

PS. Please appreciate that folks here are recommending you change the TCT simply based on your description of "... loud springing sound coming from my engine when i idle...". Without a proper mechanical diagnosis, please understand that it *could* always be something else. However, the TCT can often be the culprit of such described engine sounds.
