Roads were really slick out, so I was doing about 50 on 97. I hit a patch of black ice, and I lost control. I hit the guard rail with my rear bumper and rear quarterpanel. Air bags did not deploy. The trunk lid is bent to hell, the rear quarterpanel is damaged, and the bumper is done. I was home for Christmas. Insurance totalled the car out today.

I'm in the process of acquiring stock parts and returning the car to stock. I'm getting another AP1, and putting the parts I have on there on that one. Only thing I'd lose are my smoked headlights and clear sidemarkers, but whatever, I'll bite that bullet.

It really is a shame. Minus the 4 pt Roll bar I was going to get for track days, I was done. All I needed was a new clutch, but I was going to chalk that one up to maintenance.

would you be willing to sell the damaged car to me? Did you do an insurance buyback?

Be very pushy with them! Remember, what they offer is only an offer, and you don't have to take the first offer they offer! Haggle with them big time, shed a tear even, about the car's sentimental value, hundreds of hours poring over it to keep it immaculate, low mileage for the year, etc.

I agree...it's something about "those" wheels...

Some of the folks who had a loss...went and made it "right." Some did not...

I don't even wanna think about losing my S.
