Missing Motor Mount Bolt
Heads up guys and gals! Thanks to HOTRODS2000 I recently was able to use his lift to change my fluids. While walking around under my car I noticed a hole in the pasenger side motor mount that looked like it should have something in it. Upon closer inspection I found that one of four bolts was missing.
Its impossible for me to tell if it was ever installed, but one thing's for sure. If it was installed, it wasn't torqued correctly.
I went to the local dealer to order the bolt. Neither I nor the parts guy could tell by the parts diagram which mount was the right-side mount and which was the left-side mount. And as fate would have it, the right-side bolt was a different size from the left. So I ordered one of each size at $2.47 each.
When I installed the new bolt I checked the torque on the rest of the bolts, both sides. One bolt on the right side was under-torqued.
This type of problem is surprising (to me). Its one thing to have electrical problems or vender-supplied product issues, but this has to be nothing other than a hand-built issue.
cutuesday! Check your bolts!
(his car is only 3 VIN numbers lower than mine)
It wouldn't hurt for everyone to inspect your baby.
Good Luck!

If only those clips could be made by the same vendor GM uses ("MORE PLASTIC"
) then the price would be closer to .15!
Speaking of fenderwell clips, I need 2, can I simply pay you for them.
I'm afraid the mysterious vibration (growel) is something else.
I'm constantly surprised at the seemingly low torque specs for bolts on this car. Of course, I've never bothered to use a torque rench on a car before this one so I'm use to really squeezing those suckers. But still, just 29 Nm on a bolt that holds the engine to the frame is crazy!
