Default Moving to Charlotte

I'm moving to Charlotte at the end of June and had a few questions for anyone in the area:

a) do any of you take your cars to any of the Honda dealers, if so which ones? I am fine paying the dealer to service the car for stuff like oil changes etc, as long as the community has a general concensus as to which ones have good service and are trustworthy
b) Can anyone recommend a place to have tint done?
c) are there any regular meets? it looks like the raleigh area is a lot more active than charlotte

SuperMonkey...forgive me as I will forever refer to you as SpiderMonkey in my head.

I used to live in Charlotte (Matthews, actually) and I'll help you out.

a) Hendrick Honda is king in Charlotte...I never had a bad experience...but I'd explore some options (and I'm referring to 2008 experience)
b) THE place to go without question or doubt is Steve Treece's place over off Independence. Here's his info: http://www.zainocharlotte.com/
c) There used to be lots...not sure anymore...but keep an eye out and perhaps some others will comment here.

Enjoy Charlotte.

I live in Charlotte (Matthews area too) and have lived here all my life. If you need anything, let me know.

Hendrick Honda is a good one for service; a member on here works (or at least used to work) there so you know they have some experience with S2000s. Another would be Scott Clark Honda off Independence, but you would need to ask for a specific tech to work on your car (or at least I would). It is a guy that does all service work on an s2ki member's CR. He hasn't worked on mine, but I would trust him just from association. There is also a good parts contact at Scott Clark Honda, a guy that lives in my neighborhood. I have bought pleeenty of OEM items from him. I would also recommend Metro Honda in Indian Trail for parts, but not for service. I have had good experiences with their parts guys, but pretty bad experiences with their service department.

I have had several cars tinted with Speed Styles in Indian Trail. The company has maintained the same ownership since I was like 15 years old at least. Good group of guys, and a skilled set of tint workers. They back it with a lifetime guarantee, and have done every car imaginable. They did a great job on my S2000, and were the cheapest I could find to include the PITA rear window. They can also get you any kind of performance part or accessory if you are into the whole brick-and-mortar store front for buying your auto parts.

Charlotte has a few regular meets, none of which are S2000 specific. I think the Buffalo Wild Wings meets are still happening on Independence and Sardis Road North in Matthews on Thursday nights. We do have a Cars & Coffee meet going again which happens the first Saturday morning of every month out at the NC Music Factory towards downtown. I am not as into the meets as I once was; there used to be some at UNC Charlotte when I attended but I think those have been mostly shut down and haven't sparked back up. I go out to a few Streetwise drift events just to hang out meet-style and watch some cars run. I also autocross frequently with our local chapter of the SCCA if you are interested in doing that; just let me know. We have a few events at the end of June and beginning-mid of July that are in Charlotte. Worth coming out to at least watch or grab a free ride-along.

Welcome! Where are you moving from, and what brings you here?

Thanks for all the suggestions and info.

Definitely interested in coming to the autocross events. I took a novice class here in the Philly SCCA region and it was a blast, but I haven't had the time lately to participate in any of the events and most of the venues were at least an hour drive. I checked the Charlotte venues and most seem like they are in a fairly small radius of uptown.

I just got married and my wife and I said we would move somewhere else after we got married just to start fresh/try something new. Charlotte made our shortlist , we visited and loved it. We've been in Delaware most of our lives, and we were both able to easily transfer with our jobs (banks lol).

Looking to buy a house within the next year (first time buyers), got an apartment near the Northlake mall so we wouldnt have to househunt from here, and get more familiar with the area.

If you are free in two weeks, Wednesday night the 27th there is a night series autocross about two seconds from your apartment at Metrolina Expo Center. Registration is not open yet, but I will let you know when it is (probably post a new topic here). Or, you can just stop by and hang out with us. Maybe grab a few ride-alongs.

Doh! Well, go ahead and plan on being free Saturday the 14th of July. There is a regular points event at zMax dragway which is right beside Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord. It is about 15 minutes from your apartment. zMax is one of the best autox sites in the southeast; big, flat, open, and maintained. CCR typically has a very exciting and quick course at zMax, almost as if it was tailor made for the S2000....... hmmmmmm, come to think of it the course designer for CCR just happens to drive an S2000........ hhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....
