My first "is that a Miata?" comment...
I read that long thread about people making funny comments about S2000s and I finally got my first one. I was getting ready to do some work on the S2000 and the mailman pulls up with my mail and asks "is that a Miata?" I was speechless for a few seconds, then I answered politely, "no, it's a S2000." Another long pause, mailman answers, "oh, ok. Have a good day."
Just wanted to share my funny moment of the day.
Haha, that's happened to me before, I was on campus at NGU in greenville and I got pulled over by the campus security, later in the evening, and the security officer pulled in behind me and then steps out of the car, and starts walking up to my car, bout that time I hear "Yea it's a mazda miata", I debadged my car
the security officer comes up and asks the norm, I gave him my stuff and then he walks away, bout 2 minutes later he comes back to the car and says me, your insurance says you drive a honda, but this is a miata, respectfully I respond, No officer, my car is not a miata, it is not a mazda, my car is a Honda S2000 and you have the wrong person. He then responded, umm im sorry he then walks back to his car and comes back with my stuff and says sorry for the inconvience and then walks away, some times security dudes are just dumb.

I gave a guy that was stranded on the side of the road because he ran out of gas a ride to a gas station a while back, and after he fills up his gas can, he gets in and says "so how do you like this miata" I paused for a few seconds and said "excuse me" and he asked again and told him what it was and he says "oh a Honda 2000?" I just said yes and started driving again. My friends say that all the time cause they know it irks me.

Never had any issues with mine being de-badged but I did get stopped on Fort Bragg by a Fayetteville policeman and he knew exactly what my car was and said to drive carefully, you did a good job taking care of it. The policeman was actually really nice too.
